Plain lines are drawn with the mouse while holding down the left button. To draw plain text (not squirly text) using a line, the option in the Text panel in the Plain section is set to After line is drawn. The Line Type is set to Plain Lines

A line is drawn and when the left mouse button is released, the text is drawn to follow the line.

Squirly lines can be drawn and text will be drawn to fit between the two Plain lines that are drawn. To draw two squirly lines, set the option in the Text Panel in the Squirly section to Between two lines. The line type is Plain Lines. Then draw two lines using the mouse and left button. When the left button is released, the text will be drawn.

The other option is in the Squirly section and is Speed warp. This will also draw text along a line and the text size varies as the mouse is moved. The faster the movement, the larger the text. This option is only used with Plain lines.
